Yung Frendi is an artist from San Jose, California. Becoming a very noticeable figure in the underground community with songs like “ Make U Mine”, “ Slight”, and “ Mental “. I got some great information from Frendi, and I’m excited to learn more and hear more in the near future. Let’s get to know him a little more below!

When did you start making music?

I started making music in late 2017, but it wasn’t until late 2018 that I decided to take it much more seriously. I’ve had different aliases, but stuck with this one since then.

Growing up what are some things you did for fun?

I used to be a heavy soccer player I played rec all throughout Kindergarten-1st grade then picked it back up in middle school. I also play video games such as old Roblox (shit was fun asf), Lost Planet 2 which is incredibly underrated, FIFA, and so forth.

What superpower would you choose for yourself? And Why?

Time travel would be fye not gonna lie or some anime me shit like controlling from the eye.

Who are some artists you grew up listening to?

Growing up I listened to a variety of genres and artists. The main people I can name off the top of my head are Chris Brown, Usher, Kanye, and Rihanna. My uncle was a DJ/Party Promoter, so he used to show me a lot of old Chris Brown songs that make me fall in love with his music. I also used to listen to rock artists such as Sum 41, Hot Chelle Rae, Arvil Lavigne, Simple Plan, and so forth. I used to love EDM shit like Deadmau5 & Skrillex.

Who inspires you the most musically?

My biggest musical inspiration is probably Uzi & Kanye. Going into high school I found Uzi in mid-2016 and I was in so captivated by the new sound he was bringing to the game. The first Luv is Rage will forever be one of my fav albums ever and it just showed me how to mix melodic singing with rapping. On the other hand, Kanye’s music is generational and he was truly ahead of his time sonically. The entire 808s & Heartbreak was the blueprint of 2010s rap with autotune and singing, in which made it easier for artists like me to do what I do.

What is one piece of advice you would give to an up-and-coming artist?

The greatest advice I could give up-and-coming artists is to invest in themselves and connect. To succeed in coming up in music, I think a small artist should try promotions themselves on platforms, such as TikTok, or making connections with artists that make your type of music. I used to pay promos from ImDontai which got my son “ Sight “ to hit 100K+, and I’ve met so many people along the way. Patience is key, work on your craft, and keep pushing.

How did you feel when “Make U Mine” went over 100K Plays?

It feels good and surreal. That’s the second song of mine that cracked over 100K streams and knowing that many people listened to you is crazy. I can’t be too content though and coming to this year and I wanna be much more consistent :).

Who are some artists you wish you could work with?

Some artists I would wanna work with are Uzi, Rino, Autumn, and a lot of my music friends! I’m gonna try to push my sound more and hopefully, I can gain enough traction so we can all lab one day.

Tell us about any new songs or projects you have coming out.

I’m working on a collective tape for VLM (VictoryLapMusic). Shit boutta be fire, you gon hear about VLM a lot this year. Crazy sound is being pushed by Jxyy2k, Solxmn, Cloudbxy, 1kkyoto, and Zukobain. It’s a new wave coming into this year.

Anything else you want the audience to know about you?

Thank you to everyone who supports me along this journey. I love yall & cant wait to see what this year brings! s/o bandages, talksoon, VLM 🦅❤️
